UK Attorney General orders independent review after UK fraud office’s conviction quashed

LONDON – Britain’s Lawyer General said on Friday it was commissioning an unbiased assessment after a Courtroom of Attraction judgment quashed a criminal conviction as a result of disclosure failings on the Severe Fraud Place Of Work (SFO).

“The Attorney Basic is deeply serious about the findings within the judgment and will be discussing the consequences with the director of the serious Fraud Place Of Work urgently,” a spokesman said in a statement.

The Court Docket of Attraction earlier quashed the legal conviction of former Unaoil government Ziad Akle, saying the SFO had failed in its disclosure tasks by refusing to provide the defence with necessary documents to run their case and undermining Akle’s right to a good trial.
