Serbia’s 2d-biggest town Novi Unhappy has been elected as one in every of the 3 Ecu capitals of Tradition for 2022.
A town distinctive for its historical past and structure, but also the homeland of worldwide-known Serbian artists and scientists, Novi Sad enters the new year with renewed feel of pride as the country’s first to obtain the honour.
The town joins Kaunas, Lithuania and Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg as the three picks for 2022.
Novi Sad is now embellished with lighting and projections of the ‘For New Bridges’ marketing campaign, a play on words on the programmes of latest events named after bridges crossing the Danube.
With a calendar of over 1,500 cultural occasions, the city hopes to further attach its inhabitants and the region’s cultural neighborhood via “bridges” with the european Union and to reinforce their hyperlinks with the remainder of the Western Balkans area.

What will this year dangle for the town?
The new European Capital of Tradition will flip its vintage commercial complexes into galleries, artwork studios, and theatre stages.
Serbs will even find a way to enjoy classical tune concert events on the town’s concert hall.
“This range of funding in culture did not occur in the previous 50 years or so in Novi Unhappy,” explains Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2022’ programme.
Along with its newly-gained European title, Novi Sad also “won” over the world-well-known violinist Stefan Milenković’s middle.
“I’m here on account of my circle of relatives and because it is a problem for me to participate right away within the life of classical music in Serbia. one in all the key factors is, in fact, a fantastic creative local weather,” Milenković instructed Euronews.
With this present local weather, cultural institutions and impartial artists had been referred to as to become a part of what the organisers referred to as “the beginning of the transformation of Novi Sad”.
This year, through fairs, exhibitions, theatre performs, and concert events, the city will cope with problems with Ecu relevance, similar to migration, peace, multiculturalism and the position of girls in artwork and adolescence tradition.
The city hopes its new Ecu title will increase the collection of tourists again, after previous years suffering from the pandemic.
Novi Unhappy’s tenure as a 2022 Eu Capital of Tradition will officially begin on January THIRTEEN, coinciding with New Yr’s Eve below the Serbia’s Julian calendar.
