CLEVELAND — If the NBA had a popularity contest, Stephen Curry would be in the lead midway through the 2022-23 regular season.
That’s at least according to merchandise sales data released Friday by the NBA and National Basketball Players Association.
Fresh off of earning his first Finals MVP, Curry’s No. 30 jersey has been the most sought after jersey among NBA fans this season, according to the report. It’s the first time he’s led the league in jersey sales since the 2017-18 NBA season.
LeBron James has the second-most popular jersey followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who checked in at No. 3 in jersey sales. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic and Kevin Durant round out the top five, respectively. Ja Morant’s stock is on the rise as he checked in at No. 6, the highest ranking he’s earned on the most popular jersey list in his career.
The Warriors winning their fourth title in eight years also boosted their overall merchandise sales as they trail only the Los Angeles Lakers on the NBA and NBPA’s team merchandise list. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks have both leaped three spots in the team merchandise ranking since the end of the 2021-22 regular season, clocking in at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
