Autumn arrives Tuesday, Aug. 30 — or so says Starbucks.
The coffee juggernaut’s Pumpkin Spice Latte, along with the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and the Apple Crisp Macchiato, will return to the menu boards.
Price hikes are coming too. A grande-size Pumpkin Spice Latte will set you back $5.45 to $5.95 (depending on location), about 4% higher than last year, according to CNN Business.
The PSL craze started by Starbucks 19 years ago has led to competitive launches in recent years, with Krispy Kreme declaring Aug. 8 the start of the season this year, and Dunkin’ launching its drinks Aug. 18. No word yet from Berkeley-based Peet’s Coffee.
This year, Starbucks has tweaked the recipe for its Apple Crisp Macchiato. It’s now a non-dairy drink, made with oatmilk, and Starbucks’ Blonde Espresso roast.
What if you’re one of those who doesn’t like to drink pumpkin coffees until autumn actually arrives?
