PALO ALTO – A 23-year-old Santa Clara man is facing multiple criminal charges in connection with a series of residential burglaries between last fall and spring in Palo Alto, police said.
The burglaries occurred Oct. 22 in the 700 block of Rosewood Drive, Oct. 28 in the 4000 block of Briarwood Way, Feb. 16 in the 3600 block of Ramona Street, March 22 in the 700 block of Talisman Court and May 2 in the 1400 block of Byron Street.
An investigation led to the identification of the man as one of the suspects, the Palo Alto Police Department said in a news release Tuesday. On July 20, detectives obtained a probable cause warrant charging him with five felony counts of residential burglary.
On the same day detectives obtained the warrant, they learned the man had been arrested on unrelated charges by the Santa Clara Police Department and was in custody, police said. Detectives on July 25 served the warrant on the man at the jail.
Detectives continued their investigation and linked the man to three additional incidents in San Jose and one in Fremont, police said.
On Thursday, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office charged the man with seven counts of burglary, four counts of attempted burglary and four counts of vandalism.
The investigation into the identity of other suspects in the Palo Alto burglaries is ongoing, police said.
