A man suspected in the stabbing death of a woman last week in Richmond has been charged with murder, authorities said.
Investigators arrested Jacobo Gil-Arvizu on June 14 at his residence in the 1800 block of Rumrill Boulevard in San Pablo, authorities said. He has been charged with one count of murder in the death of 59-year-old Sheila Green with an enhancement of using a dangerous weapon, according to court documents.
Police found Green in the area of 24th Street and Esmond Avenue after being called there around 7:15 a.m. on June 6.
Authorities initially classified the case as the 10th homicide that the Richmond Police Department has investigated this year but did not give a cause of death. Court documents and police confirmed the death was a stabbing.
Authorities said Gil-Arvizu picked up Green as a prostitute and that there was a misunderstanding in which Gil-Arvizu accused Green of stealing his money and attacked her. According to Richmond police spokesman Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy, investigators never found the money.
