Los Gatos community briefs for the week of Nov. 4 – The Mercury News

SAGE senior living

Belmont Village Senior Living, located at 5121 Union Ave., received kudos at this year’s regional Shaping Advancements in Generational Environments (SAGE) Awards. The highly amenitized facility was named the “Best 55+ Assisted Living/Special Needs Community” in its size category. The community is part of a nationwide chain of facilities that share the same name; the Los Gatos location was the company’s 14th development in California.

Holidays with dollies

Los Gatos children who want to take their dolls to the biggest tea party in town can register for the second annual Dollie & Me Holiday Tea next month. The event, held at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, is put on by the founders of kit & sis, a business started by three Los Gatos girls when they were kids in 2013 that has thrived over the past decade. The event will allow young people to craft alongside their dolls, in keeping with the company’s mission of encouraging creativity in children. The teas will take place Dec. 17-18. Wiffle Ball Classic

Little leaguers, it’s time to start practicing your swings for the annual Wiffle Ball Classic fundraiser. On Nov. 19, starting at 9 a.m., registered teams of players ages 14 and younger will compete in a round robin-style wiffle ball competition at Los Gatos High School. The proceeds from the event will go to Los Gatos Little League and Los Gatos High School baseball. Registration ends Nov. 12. To register, visit www.lgll.org.
