Lil Baby is on his way to the Bay Area with a tour that has seen a few bumps in the road of late.
The Atlanta rapper is supporting his most recent album, “It’s Only Me,” with a concert on Aug. 6 at Oakland Arena. The tour, however, has recently canceled several stops, including Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis and a Sacramento show that had been slated for next Wednesday. No reason was given for the cancellations. Some reports are citing flagging ticket sales.
His recorded material is still selling strong. “It’s Only Me” debuted at No. 1 last fall. It’s Lil Baby’s third consecutive chart-topper — following the 2020 quadruple-platinum effort “My Turn” and the 2021 collaborative outing “The Voice of the Heroes” with Lil Durk. (Note: Lil Durk has his own headlining show set for Sept. 1 at Oakland Arena.)
The new album features guest spots from Nardo Wick, Young Thug, Fridayy, Future, Rylo Rodriguez, Jeremih and others. The first single released from the album was “In a Minute,” which has since been certified platinum.
Meanwhile, one opening act, The Kid LAROI, the Australian rapper who hit No. 1 with the Justin Bieber collaboration “Stay,” has dropped out of the tour. Still in the mix are Grammy-nominated Tennessee rapper GloRilla, GLOSS UP, Rylo Rodriguez and Hunxho.
Details: 7 p.m. Aug. 6; $75-$300 (subject to change); ticketmaster.com.
