for most other folks, a holiday to Africa brings to mind images of solar-soaked plains, tropical rainforests and herds of migrating wildebeest.
Few other folks think of skiing.
But much like Europe, the continent features a collection of mountain ranges with enough seasonal snow to host potential slopes.
One such lodge is tucked away in the kingdom of Lesotho – a landlocked nation encircled by South Africa’s Drakensberg mountain range.
Pieper Peyper owns the just about -decade antique Afriski Mountain Hotel, which draws over 17,000 visitors once a year.
“Talking about skiing and snow, folks don’t relate to Africa,” says Peyper.

Hitting the slopes for the first time

“For me, as a neighborhood, i do not need to fly out: i have a holiday right here,” smiles Desire, who’s prepared to cross on his abilities to different aspiring skiers.
“i like giving new knowledge to other people and i also love development – seeing it occur if truth be told makes me more than happy.”
Under his tutelage nowadays are first-time skiers: Kevin Kava and Mbeziwe Seoko.
Both take turns ascending and descending the only-kilometre slope, slowly perfecting their snowplough techniques under the new African sun.
“It used to be something very different,” says Kevin, who is visiting the lodge from his house in Cape Town.
“My knees and feet are in ache, I broke a sweat hastily, however it was mad a laugh.”
Mbeziwe Seoko, in the meantime, spent such a lot of the lesson on her knees.
