An 85-year-old man was killed after being struck by a car in Santa Clara around 8:45 p.m. on Friday night.
The pedestrian, a Santa Clara resident, was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Homestead Road and Maryann Drive when he was hit by a Toyota pick-up truck. Santa Clara fire and police officials performed CPR on the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision and the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to the Santa Clara Police Department.
The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld until the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner can provide proper notification.
